Is PERFECTIONISM Holding You Back?
“Have you ever found yourself trying something new- whether that’s writing an article, writing a social media post, preparing a presentation, and you just can’t press submit?”
Maybe you’re worried that if what you’ve created is not absolutely perfect, those around you will somehow judge your efforts. Perfection is your goal, and you can’t move forward until what you’ve done is PERFECT- in your own mind. When you’re trying something new and preparing to present it to the world around you, perhaps you experience analysis paralysis – you get stuck thinking and overthinking ways to improve that one thing. But I want you to consider something: that want for perfection, that constant iteration before bringing your idea to the world could be the thing holding you back.
If perfection in your own mind is not achievable, constantly working to achieve it is only going to slow you down. You are in a constant phase of growth and getting to the next level is going to require putting yourself out there. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it has to be a reflection of where you’re at right now. That’s valuable. I encourage you, if you’re sitting on a post or a project or an idea, put it out there. Gather feedback and continue to improve.
